Lonnie is survived by his wife Rae Lynn, his daughters Michelle and Saige, his sons Mason and Gage, his
brother Brent and wife Melissa, his sister Candice, and his parents Mark and Debbie.
Lonnie was born in Phoenix and spent his young childhood years growing up in Glendale. He created so many wonderful and lifelong friendships and memories during these years.
In 1995 Lonnie and his family moved over to the Peoria area. It is here that even more adventures began for him. He finished his High School years at Centennial High School where he graduated in 1997. Throughout his youth Lonnie participated in the Boy Scouts of America program where he became an Eagle Scout. Shortly after his graduation, he was called to serve a mission for his church in the Brazil Curitiba area. He spent two of the most memorable and impactful years of his life serving the wonderful people of Brazil that he loved so dearly. Lonnie returned home from his mission in December of 1999. Shortly after his return and unbeknownst to him at the time, he met the woman who would soon thereafter become his wife. Lonnie and Rae Lynn dated for a few months and were engaged. They were married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple in December of 2000.
Lonnie and his wife moved to the Surprise area in the fall of 2001 and spent the early years of their marriage there. Many wonderful memories and precious friendships were created and strengthened during their time spent in Surprise. Lonnie and Rae Lynn had the privilege of caring for several children in the foster care system and were blessed to have four of them become part of their eternal family. On March 22, 2008, Michelle and Mason were sealed to Lonnie and Rae Lynn in the Mesa, Arizona Temple, and on August 23, 2008, Saige and Gage were sealed to the family.
Lonnie and his family moved to Litchfield Park in the fall of 2011. Treasured memories and friendships have been made during their time here.
Lonnie joined the Glendale Police Department in February of 2008. He was a part of Sargent Tovar’s
Thunderbolts—ALEA class 438. Lonnie continued to honorably serve the citizens of Glendale, Arizona. He had a sincere desire to see the good in every call he took. He never lost sight that these were people he was serving and always strived to find a way to be see the good. Lonnie was known amongst his professional colleagues as the “918 Whisperer”. Lonnie had a very honorable and distinguished career in which he was awarded a Medal of Valor, and a Lifesaving Award. He was so grateful, honored, and proud to be a part of such an incredible Police Family.
Lonnie touched countless lives throughout his short life. His beautiful and genuine smile would light up a room in a split second. He never was first…always putting others before him. Lonnie was the example of
unconditional love. Lonnie had a firm testimony and strong love and appreciation for his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His beliefs and his family were everything to this sweet man.
Lonnie has lived out his days faithfully and honorably. This dear man will be sorely missed. We are all
comforted to know that he is in the tender and loving care of his Father in Heaven. We have no doubt that he was welcomed with open arms by many family members and dear friends that preceded him in death. We are eternally grateful for every treasured moment, every tender memory, and the precious gift of time that we were allowed with our sweet Lonnie.
