Lillie Dell Frizzell, 81 of Tempe, Arizona since 1960 and also a long time resident of Fort Worth, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 16th 2012. She passed quietly in her sleep at her home in Tempe surrounded by her family. She is now reunited with her soul mate, Billy who was called home in 1999.
Lillie Dell Sanders was born October 8, 1930 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Bonnylyn and Clyde Sanders and was a 1948 graduate of R.L. Paschal High School. She met her sweetheart, Billy, at church when they were 14 and they married October 8, 1948. She was a homemaker who also worked as a teacher’s aide at Getz School in the 70’s. She had many interests. She was a member of the Women’s Ham Operators (WHO) Club for many years sharing Billy’s love for Ham Radio.
She was a leader for many years for her daughters’ Camp Fire groups as well as working with Boy Scouts with her son. She loved to paint and sew, making all of her daughters’ wedding dresses. She made numerous award winning quilts over the years and she was an accomplished cake decorator as well. She participated in many cake shows and competitions and made all her children’s wedding cakes.
She was always active in church and sang hymns on the radio as a teenager with several relatives and friends. She played the piano at Berean Bible Fellowship church services for many years as an adult.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Ray Frizzell, parents Bonnie and Clyde Sanders, and her sister Mary Jane Sutton.
She is survived by 3 sisters, Dean, Frances and Mary, 5 brothers, James, Jay, Ray, Johnny, and Matt. She has four children: Steve and his wife Linda of Forest Hill, Texas, Elaine Hilliker and her husband Steve of Reno, Nevada, Joy Brower and her husband Todd of Tempe, Arizona, and Lynda Frizzell of Pine, Arizona. Nine grandchildren: Steve Jr, Danny, Cyndi, Al, Don, Jacki, Tami, Tonie and Kara. She also has 13 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent in her honor to Hospice of the Valley at 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, Arizona 85014-5656.
