Lewis C. Lawton Jr., 89, was called to glory by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of July 17th, 2014. His parents, Lewis C. Lawton Sr. and Alberta Lawton, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dottie Lawton, daughter Colleen (Paul) Siken, grandson David; son Jeff (Caryn) Lawton, grandson Jordan and granddaughter Caitlyn of Pullman, WA. He was born in Delaware County, PA on October 27th, 1924. He was a hard rock miner, a life guard, and a cabinet maker before graduating from Houghton College in 1952. He graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1956 with a Masters of Theology degree and served as Director of Christian Education at Knox Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, MN for ten years. While there, he completed his Masters in Administration at the University of Minnesota. In 1966 he moved his family to Phoenix after accepting the position of Minister of Christian Education at Bethany Bible Church where he served until retiring from the position in 1989. He continued working part time doing visitation until approximately 2006. He was an avid reader and enjoyed a good Louis L'Amour western or John Grisham novel. A memorial service will be held on August 9th, 2014 at Bethany Bible Church, 6060 N. 7th Ave. in Phoenix at 2:00 PM.
