La Donna Sherlene Coplan, 71, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. She was born April 23, 1950 in Phoenix, Arizona to John Riley and Latricia Carlene Laine and spent all her life in her beloved Arizona. La Donna graduated Central High School in 1968 where she made life-long friends. She married Joseph Richard Coplan on July 25, 1970 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They spent several years living down in the central Phoenix corridor before moving to their current home in north Phoenix in 1980. La Donna spent many years volunteering at her kids’ elementary school, junior high, and high school. She especially enjoyed volunteering and helping at Aire Libre Elementary where she developed strong friendships that endured until her passing. She began working at Aire Libre in the PVUSD as the Records Secretary where she continued for 25 years before retiring in 2018. She was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1968 and served in many church volunteer leadership rolls. She especially loved serving in the YW program, Relief Society, stake sports, and Girl’s Camp. Above all, she loved spending time with her 5 children and 7 grandchildren. She loved camping, fishing, trips to Disneyland and Utah, and was always very quick with a joke. La Donna is proceeded in death by her father, John Riley Laine, her mother Latricia Carlene Laine, and her brother Jack David Laine. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joseph Richard Coplan, her children Becky (Chris) Armitage, Jacque Coplan (Jeff Clark), Joseph Coplan II, Alicia (Ryan) Brimley, and Misty Coplan along with her 7 amazing grandchildren (Ethan, Caitlin, Maryn, Emma, Mallory, Courtney, and Jax). Funeral services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center on 325 W Coral Gables, Phoenix, AZ 85022 at 10AM on Monday, October 11, 2021.
