Kenneth Lee Carey, born May 1, 1938, and passed away on July 7, 2018. He was the third of four sons, born in Grand, OK to Rufus and Mary Olive Carey. Ken graduated from Arnett Public School, later joining the US Navy in 1957. Throughout his service in the Navy as Radioman 2nd Class (E-5), Ken toured Italy, Greece, Yugoslavia, Turkey, and Lebanon to name a few. After leaving the Navy in 1961, Ken focused on his professional career, serving as the Chief of Surveys for the 3rd Power Plant in Grand Coulee, WA and the Southern Nevada Water Project in Henderson, NV. Ken later served as the Chief of Right of Way & Location in Gilroy, CA and Realty Specialist for the Central Arizona Project, which brought him to Phoenix.
While living in Oregon, Ken met and fell in love with Delores Richter. They were married in November 1976. Ken had a passion for fishing, movies, and being with his family. Ken is lovingly remembered by his daughters Shirley (Tom) and Rhonda (Billy), sister-in-law Christine, his seven grandchildren (Dennis, Delena, Dawn, Hannah, Samantha, Trevor, and Cameron) and their children. Ken was pre-deceased by his wife Delores, his parents, brothers Tom, Rob, and John, daughter Pam and niece Robyn. Ken was well-known for his sharp sense of humor, generosity, and wisdom. He is be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Shadow Mountain Mortuary in Phoenix, AZ. Visitation will be held Wednesday July 11th from 5:30pm-7pm. Final Viewing and Procession to Committal Service will take place on Thursday July 12th at 8am. Committal Service will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 9:30am, where he will be laid to rest with his wife Delores.
