Katie was the sixth child of nine (five girls & four boys).
Her family moved from Littlefield, Texas to Gilbert, Arizona in 1950, after a few years they moved to Phoenix, Arizona.
Katie attended Percy L. Julian Elementary and then Phoenix Union High School.
After high school she attended Kivel where she received her certification & graduated at the top of her CNA class.
Katie accepted Christ at the age of 17 & never looked back. She attended Church of God and Christ #4.
In September of 1970 she started working at Phoenix General Hospital on 19th Ave. & Indian School.
In 1988 the hospital changed its name to John C. Lincoln & moved to Deer Valley.
The years that Katie worked for the hospital she received numerous awards, accomplishment letters & certificates for her outstanding work.
On June 24, 2004 after 33 years of dedicated service Katie retired.
While working at Phoenix General Hospital, Katie met & fell in love with Clee Otis James.
After 2 years of dating they were married on February 10, 1973. Katie & Otis were together for 46 years before his passing on May 29, 2019.
Katie was a hard worker and took pride in everything she did. She loved God & her family, she was caring, dependable & THANKFULL for everything she received in her life.
She loved music especially Donnie McClurkin and she was an avid basketball fan.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband Otis James, parents Andrew & Lora Hodge, 1 sister Maime Jones, 3 brothers William Hodge, James Hodge, Roy Hodge.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son Grady Parker & daughter Carolyn James both of Phoenix, AZ; one brother Tony Hodge of Los Angeles, CA; 3 sisters Ruby Brown of Goodyear, AZ; Mildred Hodge of Phoenix, AZ; Loraine Mosley (John) of Auburn, Washington. 5 grandkids Tiffany, De’Aundrea, Tyson, Demetrius & Ke’Shaun, 7 great grands & 1 great great grand.
