Kathy Teetsel-Styner

unexpectedly from this life from complications of pneumonia on April 7, 2020.

She left behind grieving hearts and soon-to-be-fulfilled dreams.

Born to Bob and Barbara (Wheat) Teetsel in Glendale, California, Kathy spent her

early years in Casper, Wyoming, before moving to Phoenix, her permanent home.

After graduating from Shadow Mountain High School in 1978, Kathy remained

fiercely loyal to those she loved. She shared her mom’s athletic ability, excelling at

women’s softball under her dad’s coaching. Always kindhearted, but feisty, she

persevered through many challenges.

But years of happiness began when Kathy married Al Styner in 1992, followed the

next year by the birth of their beloved daughter, Emily Grace, nicknamed

“Peanut.” Along with their ever-present mini dachshunds, the three of them

enjoyed a home filled with love, laughter and “open arms” to others. Special

times included annual trips to San Diego and days spent at the Teetsels’ cabin in

Greer.

Family and friends remember how Kathy relished holiday traditions (the birthday

cake for Jesus), and preferred to join (instigate) the fun at the “kids’ table” during

family gatherings. Her generous spirit was evident at Christmas as she baked her

famous molasses cookies by the dozens. She loved the music from the 70’s and

freely shared these golden oldies on Facebook, to include her last post. Anyone

who knew Kathy understood that Emily was her whole world. After being

“Grandma” to others’ little ones, she was “over the moon” about Emily’s wedding

in the fall and the prospect of having grandchildren of her own.

Kathy lived bravely following the loss of her mom, Barb, in 1999 and her “Bub”

(Al) in 2014. Family members left behind to honor her life and remember her love

include daughter, Emily Styner (and fiancé, Joseph Tabor), dad, Bob Teetsel (Lael),

brothers, Bob (Cheryl) Teetsel and Mark (Nancy) Teetsel, as well as her cousins,

nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and gathering to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held at a future

date, yet to be determined.
