Katherine Eloise Dendy, most recently of Phoenix, passed away at the age of 84. She was born during the depression era in Cape Girardeau, MO to Muriel D (formerly Masters), and Elbert Lee LeMaster. It was a time of tumult for many, often causing family members to be separated. Katherine’s family had their own struggles, but she developed a fun personality and was quick to point out the humor in many situations and liked to tease her friends and family. She also grew to be a beautiful woman. She was often mistaken for Elizabeth Taylor, much too her delight. She enjoyed people and being the hostess at holiday gatherings and other parties. She was always ready to enlarge her circle of friends and turned her garage into a family room to accommodate more guests. She also had a passion for genealogy, through which she traced her heritage back to the founding of our country. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the chapter president in Las Vegas. Katherine kept herself busy and while living in Texas with her husband Julian Dendy Jr, she was very active in the Church of Christ of Alvarado. She moved to the Phoenix area, after her husband, Julian passed away. She was able to be independent in Phoenix, but eventually her health began to fail. Her family remains grateful for the kind care that she received from the staff and community at Bethesda Gardens, where she spent her final months and days.
Katherine is survived by her 3 daughters, Gayle Jean (Roger) Quinte. Cynthia Diane Raper, and Connie Michelle (Larry) Due; 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Her life will be celebrated with a committal service Monday, June 5, 2017, 10:30a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, where she will be laid to rest. The entrance to the cemetery is on Pinnacle Peak Road, east of Cave Creek Road.
Arrangements under the direction of Shadow Mountain Mortuary, Phoenix, AZ.
