Karen Audrey Zick, age 67, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at her residence in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born on September 13, 1953 to the late Irving Walter and Audrey Lorainne (Sandback) Zirbel in Montgomery, AL. She attended Brookfield Central High School in Brookfield, Wisconsin graduating as an Honor Roll student in the class of 1971; then furthered her education at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana graduating class of 1975 obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; she took an internal auditor position for a top 3 accounting firm in Indianapolis, Indiana and later passed the exam to become a Certified Public Accountant. On November 22, 1980 she married James Michael Zick in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she became one of the first female VPs for the Scott Fetzer Company division United Consumer Financial Services. She enjoyed gardening, spending time her loving family and pets (CC, Dusty & Rio), following current politics and passionately cheering for her favorite football teams - the Arizona Rattlers, Arizona Cardinals, Wisconsin Badgers, ASU, Cleveland Browns and Green Bay Packers. .
Karen is survived by her loving spouse of over 40 years, Jim; 1 child, Corey; 1 brother, Craig Zirbel; and many other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Audrey and father Irving. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, March 18th, at the Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W Beardsley Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85027. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Karen’s honor may be made to the St Mary’s Food Bank at 2831 N 31st Ave, Phoenix AZ 85009 or StMarysFoodBank.org.
