Juston was not only a war hero but he was my personal hero. I admired his bravery and courage for serving our country and saving countless lives but also admired how he supported the ones who he loved and the ones who loved him. Juston had a spirit that can never be replaced but can be celebrated each day by how we live our lives in honor of his memory. We can make him proud by treating the people around us each and every day with kindness and compassion. He was many things: a war hero, a firefighter, a solider, a fighter, smart, skilled, but most of all he was an excellent father, son, brother, and Fiancé. He cared about everyone around him. I know all of this about him because I am his cousin, and I appreciate everything he did for this world and for his family.
I love you and miss you! Rest in peace!

My heart goes out for your family, I just got news of juston passing, I was blessed to know juston through my brother even though he was more my brothers friend he was a friend to all I remember juston seeing me walking down the street when he was in high school him knowing of a problem that I was having he talked with me about it and gave me a hug and said to your my friend and then told me he would always there for me if ever needed to talk to someone he would always be there I'll never forget get that then before I moved I had ran into juston in Surprise az he was so happy to see me and bought myself and my helper are food and drink, I well be never forget juston he was one of a kind he kept it real his parents raised a good man God bless the family and his kids.


Oh, I just  saw this. Juston and I served in 2003 iraq invasion.  I am so saddened.  I'm a man and a soldier,  I have tears. Juston was a great man. I saw him get his silver star. I am in great sorrow 

Juston was one of my son, Rob's best friends.  Whenever the guys would get together, Juston would make it a point to seek me out and talk to me.  He was such an upstanding and genuine individual.   I'm proud to have known him and for him to be one of my son's favorite acquaintances.  I wish the family peace and comfort at this difficult time and for love to surround them.   

Juston I remember in High School when everyone was so distant and just kids I guess.. You always remained my friend no matter what. Thank you. May you Rest in Peace and prayers to all your friends and family.

To the family, my sincere condolences. As I am watching this young man's service I am moved to tears as what his captain is saying. I am Thankful that God gave such a compassionate person a home with ties to Arizona. I hold all you, his family and friends in prayer. Again, my  sincerest condolences. I'm so very sorry for the sudden loss of Juston, he was a true class act and hero. I will always remember his great smile and laugh. I sent care packages to his group on their last deployment to Afghanistan and he was so appreciative of the love from home.  I know he will be missed by many. 

I would like to give my condolences to Juston Dohertys family , friends and extended family like myself and many others who have served with CPT Doherty in combat and peace. This great soldier /firefighter was my squad leader  in 3rd platoon 348th Trans in 03  .I was serving as 3rd Platoon leader in OIF 03 . This is how special ,dedicated SSG Doherty always in attack mode of getting the job done regardless of mission. Memory of  all  time. OIF I during the push to Baghdad 3rd platoon squad leaders lead the way with fierce knowledge and skills that were impeccable to our excellent
Combat performance.  This incident is hard for me to talk about but all due to my combat comrade it's possible.During a combat resupply mission in OIF I 3rd platoon was returning back to camp in convoy on the main supply route with enemy combatants still in all areas. Our convoy had a truck break down so the drivers did a switch for towing the tractor back safely. After switch out we load up and continue to base camp we had been out for 2 days . At the time SSG Juston Doherty was one of our combat medics and was in position next to the last truck . (Note) our convoy had approximately 17 trucks 36 soldiers on the mission. The convoy has 100 meter spacing having miles separation of more than half of the trucks ,  SSG Doherty was put in the position next to the last truck so he had accountability of the other half of the convoy. The truck towing the other tractor back had enemy incoming fire a  swerved ejecting 3 soldiers out their trucks onto the main supply route. SSG radios telling me of the incident he was in pursuit to the injured soldiers to perform combat medic dutys. SSG Doherty put a splent on one soldier and stabilized the other 2 while I was calling for a medic vac. SSG Doherty stabilized those soldiers until medi vac arrived. You lived well Juston. You will be remembered for all of the boyhood memories that you share with so many. Your willingness to try anything daring and adventurous just to prove that you could will always be our reminder to live in the moment; take chances and dare to be the hero of our own story. You have been like a brother to some and will never be forgotten. Your sudden and unexpected passing from this side of the blue skies is still sinking in; it serves as a reminder that we are not promised tomorrow. We will honor your memory by seizing the day and living like there is no tomorrow. Rest easy our friend, our brother! Heroes never die.

I just lost a good long time friend Juston Doherty who was a mentor to me in my youth.  I was a bit lost and found myself in trouble often.  I met Juston in an EMT class we had together almost 20 years ago. I ended up working for his business he had recently started after he graduated from ASU with a degree in business. We worked together every day for a few years.  Those were some of the best years of my life outside of the blessing of raising a family. I maintained a friendship with him that has spanned many years. He was a great mentor and the most amazing person I have ever met.  He achieved so much in his short life with his military and fire department accomplishments.  That’s not counting all the lives he touched.  The guy left 1000’s of stories just like mine.  I am blessed I had the opportunity to talk and catch up with him about a month before his death. I’m sick that it would be the last time I would talk to him. Lots of prayers to his wonderful family and I am so grateful that I was able to get to know know them early on with my friendship with Juston.  I feel so much pain for his young family he left behind. God please bless them in every way.  God has a special place in Heaven for you buddy.

Went through OCS with Doherty in 2007/2008. Doherty had a special quality for serving others, leading and caring for his fellow comrades and others. 

Juston was a joy.  He lived life with such an exuberance and it was infectious.  He had a twinkle in his eyes that were filled with laughter and at times mischievousness.  My heart goes out to everyone that loved him.  All our love, Jimbo, Peggy, Michael and Jaime Padelt

How fortunate have we all been to be blessed by such an amazing soul. Knowing you for 41 years and sharing every memory possible in that time has been my blessing. It’s easy to see where you get every quality you have when you meet your family, in all our years they have even taught me some of the greatest lessons. To Kathy (Mom) and Jeff, I can’t express how sorry and greatful I am for you. I’m sorry because of the loss you have to bear that no parent should. I am greatful for everything you have done for me over the years personally and through the extension of the greatest man I have ever known. You raised a boy into a man that should be the model of how we should all be. To Nicole and Zach, Nicole it was always a joy when we were younger to have you around and hang out with us (remember the flying knees). Zach, when you were born we were so excited about another brother to teach all of our amazing and funny skills to. Even though there were many years between us it was still a pleasure and always fun. To Tighe, buddy you are the extension of your father, from your looks to your manners. He has taught you well and shared all of his qualities with you. It has been a pleasure to watch you grow up into a solid young man. We (as in all of us brothers) will always be here for you. Not a day will ever go by where we won’t smile because of his grace and presence in life because of you. Uncle Mike loves you buddy!!!! To Colton, again what an example of who and how Juston is. You are a great young man with a bright future, keep up the good work and strive to be the next generation of great men. Finally Kendra, you will always be family, in my eyes and everyone else’s you will always be a Doherty!!!!! The smile and excitement you brought to Juston was amazing. The faith you restored in him about a loving relationship was awesome. I am sorry for your loss and we as extended family will always be here for you. See you on the other side brother!!!!!!!

I grew up with Juston and played ball throughout the years. These pictures are of us playing softball 25-30 years later. Gonna miss you Bubba...

Who would have known that this little boy who used to be afraid of crossing highway overpasses would grow up to be such a fearless hero of a man! I am so blessed with sweet memories. He blessed so many with so much in a far too short of a time with more service than most of us ever get to do in a lifetime. The sorrow is profound and the pride in who he was is far beyond words can describe. Prayers of Peace for all. Even though the distance is great you are all always in my heart

From the first time I met Juston until the last time we hung out he was always upbeat and full of life. Juston inspired me to be a better father by the way he raised my nephews Colton and Tighe.  Juston was always willing to give without expectation.  I will cherish the memories we made and never forget the lessons he taught. Juston was full of compassion for all,  honor for serving. and love for humanity. I am truly blessed to have met Juston. I will miss you my friend and brother until we meet again.
