I was remembering my time living in and around Binghamton this morning. When ever I do this one person always comes to mind, Judy Reardon. She was an intelligent, and sweet woman with a great smile. I was only a few years out of the Marine Corps where I served as a pilot and I had moved to New York to spend time with family and ski. I cannot think of that time without seeing her face. Our conversations and times together were special.
It was with great sadness that I read about her passing today. She was a blessing to my life...

You were a role model for the kind of hope and persistence that allows cancer survivors to beat all odds. Because you chose to live and not die, we were inspired to use a nonconventional approach to medical collaboration that we will be continuing to make it possible for many others to improve and extend their quality of life. You will always have a special place in our hearts.

Judy was the best sister anyone could ask for.  Our mother got ill when we were young and she stepped right up as a mother figure for me.  So Judy was basically my big sister, mother, friend, and (frequently needed) therapist.  I could tell her everything and she always had the best advice - which I always took. 
 
Judy and I didn't get to speak as frequently as I would have liked (because of distance).  However; whether if it were days, months, or a year, we always picked up right where we had left off as if a minutes hadn't passed.
 
When Judy would come home from college on breaks, our dad would always laugh going by our bedroom because he said as the night went on the giggles would get louder and louder.
 
Years ago Judy and I decided to get each other Christmas presents anymore.  Instead we would go on a vacation together once a year.  Best decision we ever made!  Christmas sweaters come and go but our vacation memories will last a life time.
 
I remember when I was a kid and Judy worked at Copperfield's and I was sitting at the bar drinking my Shirley Temple, the bartender came up to me and said, "If you ever want to know how much your sister loves you, just ask me.  She always talks about her baby sister and how much she loves you."  I can't even tell you that bartender's name but all these years later I can tell you it will always be a moment that will live with me forever.
 
Judy always watched over me and took care of me.  I would like to think she still is.  There will not be a day of my life that I won't think of her and miss her.
 
Be in peace my beautiful sister.  I will see you again.

Judy already had cancer when I meant her. It was slow going at first. As time went along we became friends, then better friends, and more. I am very fortunate to have gotten to spend so much time with her this past year. I admired her will to live, and her thoughts on life. I learned a lot from her. I will never forget Judy. She has a special place in my heart.

I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have met Judy.  She was my neighbor and an extremely private person.  So private and respectful of others personal space that when she moved in it was many months before I had the opportunity to introduce myself.  It was a quick hello and pleasant but I could readily see she was a very classy lady and I looked forward to getting to know her as I figured we would have the time.

Not long later she became sick, sometimes really sick... it didnt seem fair.  She had a lot more living to do, she was still young but the sickness kept coming.  Through out her sickness ever time I saw here she was still the classy lady.  How do you exude classy when your so very sick, I don't know but Judy did, could and was!  

What I will remember about Judy is she had a hopeful demeanor even with the cancer, she had a very strong will, she didn't complain when most people would, always had a kind word to say to me and was the epitome of classy.  I will always remember Judy and she will be missed!

Dearest Judy,
I remember when we first met at South University and I asked Libby to have you sit next to me, so I could help you. As it turned out you were the one to help mold me into being a “Mom”. The first foster child I had you told me she was worth keeping because she was so patient and was willing to help you clean the cats litter box. J I thank God for the opportunity He gave me to share life with you.  The last time we sat and talked, you mentioned how your son, Kyle was more than your son, but your best friend and you were worried about him handling your illness and your death. I will continue to pray for Kyle that he continues to grow into the fine man you have nourished and raised. My friend I love you and will miss my Judy time. As Itype this tears are streaming down my face, but I know you are no longer suffering and that is worth my heart hurting.

As good and bad times come and pass there are few things I can be certain of. Throughout my life your love for me has been unwavering. A concrete boulder I could never live without. To say we've shared the best memories would be an understatement. You mean the world to me, and I to you. This is what I am certain of.

Everybody who knew you loved the same things about you that I do. You are the kindest most loving, caring individual to grace this earth. Your beauty is poetic. Your demeanor so elegant. As you have come to pass I find myself left with nothing but fond thoughts. What a relief to know our suffering is over. I am so proud. To be your son is the most special gift you could have given me. I love everything about you. 

Thank you for everything you have ever done for me. For every meal you've ever given me, for every skatepark you've ever taken me to. Thank you for your words of encouragement and all of your sacrifices. But most of all thank you for the unwavering love you have given me since the day I was born. Thank you for giving me the number one place in your heart. I have never been more proud of somebody than I am for everything you stand for. I love you more than anything.

My deepest condolences to her Family,Colleagues, and dearest Friends. We are deeply saddened upon notification of her passing here in the Bay Area, where she made an incredible impact on all us. I personally will carry her smile and laughs in my heart forever.
