It’s been 2 years since you left us. It still seems so strange and so unreal. So many lives were lost in my life personally and you were one of them. Still thinking about you today and every day after that! We miss you!

Can’t believe it’s been a year, we where just talking about him last night at job getting a New Supervisor and we all agreed we need Him back not only to run the place but to tell us jokes, inspire, show up at that right time. They say you don’t miss the Good ones until they gone and he is still missed at JCL. Just keep praying for his family strength especially today 

While it is impossible to fully grasp the depth of grief that his family and loved ones still feel, we can all strive to keep Josh's spirit alive by creating a space where his legacy can flourish. Through acts of kindness, compassion, and understanding, we have the power to honor his memory and perpetuate the goodness he brought into this world.

As we pause to mark this one-year milestone, let us not only reflect on the remarkable person Josh was during his time on Earth but also the profound impact his passing has had on our own lives. There are absolutely no words that can take away the pain you are feeling with the loss of your son, brother, uncle, and fiancé. My heart goes out to you all as you navigate the difficult days and years ahead. Please know that Josh was a relentless friend to to my partner, Sean. Although I have never personally met Josh, I do understand the value of the friendship between him and Sean, as well as the happiness it has brought to both of their lives. 

To the family and Andrea, I am in sorrow. I am certain the pain is unbearable for all of you. Josh spread life to everyone he encountered; take pleasure in knowing that. This photo is one example of the toothy grin he shared with many, and should be remembered as!

Thank you for all the adventures we shared in scouting, starting from the summer camp were we got flooded in our tent, wiping out during the snow sled races, to canoeing on the Kankakee river and then up at boundary waters in Canada. You were a great friend, and role model to follow. I probably would have not lasted in scouting if I didn’t have a friend like you to help me along.  You were a big part of my Eagle Scout journey. I’ll cherish the memories we have from our times together. Rest easy and continue to watch over all of us.

Josh may you rest peacefully among the angels.  And thank you for allowing me to be a part of my favorite memory of you.  I hold it dear to my heart.  During Bands of America,  I was included in a secret plan for you to surprise your parents with a visit in Indy.  Seeing the emotional reunion with them, and the absolute pride they had of you,  is a love rarely seen and I got a front row seat.  Until we meet again...

I remember Josh from John and Bec's wedding at Wittenberg. He was so much fun to be around! I remember being let in on the secret of his wedding gift to them - a stuffed armadillo dressed in a cowboy hat! We loved watching Bec's face when she opened the box!!

Hello,  I worked with Josh at Samaritan North Lincoln hospital some years ago. I worked in the emergency department and Josh worked in the lab and would often come to the ED to help with blood draws or just to visit. I remember his professionalism and expertise in his role, he always stood out as someone you could count on to get things done. His bright smile and kind demeanor was a comforting presence in an often dark place and had an immediate impact on those who where lucky enough to encounter him. I’m so very sorry for your loss and hope that knowing he had a positive impact on many people dulls the sharp pain you must be going through.

I'll never forget having bday parties at Josh's every year growing up. We'd hoop, "play" trombone, listen to music and watch movies. A true legend gone to early

Bryce, Kathy, Karin & family - You are the family who told us to call you if we needed anything when our own son suddenly died in 2008. And when we did call you, you taught us the true meaning of friendship & compassion at a time when it seemed nothing would ever, ever heal the utter pain we were feeling. Your actions lessened the stress we were feeling and eased us into a goodbye we never thought we would get through. We have never forgotten what you did for us. Please know that you are not along in your grief.
   When you met Josh it was like meeting someone who could hold every precious soul in his heart without fear. A true expression of your whole family. 
   We will never forget him. May the Lord's peace, that passes all understanding, be upon you and all who love Josh.


Josh was a great addition to the DV family! His happy spirit and warm smile will be missed. My prayers go to his family.

I'm at a complete loss of words right now. I met Josh in 2006 when he was in AIT with my ex husband. He was so sweet and funny all the time. He went with us to the Bahamas in 2007 when we renewed our vows. I'm so glad he was able to be there with us and I was able to share that memory of him. He will truly be missed! 

I remember Josh from Boy Scouts.  Josh was always willing to help others and fun to be around.  Josh was with the Troop when we went to the Boundary Waters in Canada.  I remember when we portaged between lakes and Josh carried two packs, one in front and one on his back.  Most people had trouble carrying one pack(me included) and I wondered how does he do that? The world will miss him and I will always value his friendship.

I had the pleasure of meeting Josh through a mutual friend in H.S. He was a date to a dance, and we stayed friends for years after. He always had a bright smile on his face, and was the best hugger in the world. He had a way of making you feel important and heard with the smallest gestures. He was a shining light, and will truly be missed. My condolences to his family and friends. Rest easy, pal.

I met Josh when he was stationed in Germany. He was 19 years old and just trying to find his place in a different country. I was instantly drawn to his politeness, goofiness and his enormous heart. Over the years that he was in Germany he became a close friend. A friend that I would be able to call at 1 AM and 15 minutes later would be by my side to comfort me. A friend that would listen to me ramble on and on and would make me feel special and laugh. He had this gift to be able to carry your burden and be an amazing friend. We were so young when we met and I wish I would've gotten to know the man he became. But I know that he loved his family and friends deeply and that the memories of this beautiful soul will be treasured by the lives he has touched. I miss him and I feel very blessed that I had the honor to call him my friend.

I went to highschool with Josh, and I was in marching band and show choir with him. He was always upbeat and positive. I remember in show choir I would sing, "Come on, Josh, we're gonna paint the town," and then he would jump in with "and all that jazz!" He was just a fun-loving and fun person to be around. I pray that God will wrap  you in His arms and that you feel comforted, reassured, and most of all loved through this difficult time

You were one of my best friends growing up. This hurts my heart to hear this. You were always so happy and positive in the world. Words cannot describe this feeling when the world loses a shining and great human being. You will be missed bud.

Josh comes from a family that treated everyone like they were family. He was someone people always gravitated towards and he would always welcome friendships with anyone he met. The phrase gone too soon was made for men like Josh.

I taught Josh and coached him in wrestling. He was a great kid. I am sad about his death. I will always remember his goofy laugh and calling him grandpa because he was always last out of the locker room . I'll miss ya kid! May God give an extra measure of grace and comfort to his family

I worked with Josh at the lab JCL, we used to call him Super Josh not only because he was our supervisor because he did so many super things. He was an advisor a counselor teacher and a friend to a lot. We always know when we asked a question advice we were going to get great answers. We'll miss the times when he walks upon us in the lab and we're having one of those crazy conversations he'll be like 'Carry on' then he would stop and tell us a story and we'd all bust out laughing and he turned so Red 😅. Then he do his smile an say "Okay enough fun for now let's get back to work" and walk away. That just showed us the type of compassionate ,heart ,and care that he had not only for his job but also for the people that were around him. I also worked with Josh at JCL.  I am shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.  He was always smart, funny, kind, and an overall awesome person to be around.  I always looked forward to shifts when he was working.  My deepest condolences to his loved ones.

I had the pleasure to meet Josh at JCL he was one of my supervisors. Josh was such an easy going person, he helped me through so much. He was always there when I needed someone to talk to. Josh was a great leader always helped when it was needed and always addressed any issue and resolved it right away. Such a happy person always laughing, he made work fun. Hearing of his passing broke my heart I'm in shock, he was so young. My condolences go out to all of his loved ones. May he rest in peace. 

I worked w Josh also at JCL. He was one of my biggest cheerleaders at that time, and even offered additional information and resources for adding to my educational background. He had some of the best stories, some of which were hilarious. He was also a very patient, and kind person, who would listen and have suggestions for situations that seemed impossible to overcome. And he was a fantastic addition to leadership at JCL. His departure is a major loss to JCL, as well as to those who knew and loved him. He will certainly be missed. 

Bryce, Kathy & family...I only  met Joshua once in March, 2019, and loved him at once...he reminded me of you, "B", so very Sandlin, handsome, friendly, polite, kind, and I am sure a beautiful Son, brother, Uncle and friend..may you be at rest knowing Joshua is with his LORD and be at peace..Love, G-Aunt Patty, Marc, Michele and families.

Josh always had new ideas to make our lab a better place and came with a smile and heart for the patients he served. Josh was my supervisor while working for honor health. He was compassionate and caring and loved his co-workers dearly. He laughed at our stupid jokes and drama we created and always made sure to listen to us when we were upset. Hearing of his passing sent my heart to my stomach. He was such an intelligent, amazing person. He will be deeply missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. 

I was lucky enough to have worked with Josh. I must say, he was one of the "real" ones when it came to leadership. He was easy to talk with about any problem you may have had and he always tried to accommodate his staff. My heart and prayers go out to his family, friends, and colleagues. He touched many hearts and he will be greatly missed.
