Joseph Henry Watkins, 80, of Phoenix, Arizona drifted into heaven with his family by his side. Joseph was born in Onawa, Iowa on February 6, 1942 the youngest brother of nine children to Joseph Henry Watkins and Gudrun Marie Johnson. Joseph grew up in Onawa and after high school joined the Army.
Joseph spent eight years in the Military and completed a tour in Viet Nam. Joseph’s father, Joseph Sr., along with all five of his brothers and brother-in-law all served in the US Military: Joseph Sr. was in the Navy, having spent time in the Philippines and was present when the bomb was dropped on Japan; his brother Clayton (Air Force), Richard (Navy), Myron (Navy), Loren (Air Force), brother-in-law Kenneth (Army).
After Joseph got out of the Army he relocated to Arizona where he met and married his wife Judith and together they had one child, Laura Christine. He became a truck driver and loved over the road travel for 30+ years.
Joseph leaves behind his daughter Laura and 2 grandchildren; Brevin Joseph and Breanne Christine, siblings Richard (Patty), Jeanette (Kenneth), Gayle, Evelyn, Dora, Clayton (Jomarie), and sister-in-law Donna Watkins along with several nieces and nephews.
Joseph is preceded in death by; wife Judith and brothers Loren and Mike
