Jose's Farewell Song

Jose Jimenez, age 47, tragically passed away on the 6th of November, 2022. Jose was born May 28, 1975, in Streamwood, IL. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 10, where he began to build his life.

Jose had a love for his family, friends, food, art, sports, music, comic books, cannabis and IPA. He would light up at the opportunity to help others, and would be the first one to offer the shirt off his back.

He has pleased many palettes as a chef in our community and many know him from creating food at local Phoenix spots such as; Garcia’s, Welcome Diner, Little Miss BBQ, and Cloth & Flame. His favorite saying was “I don't care if it's Obama, Yo Mama, Or the Dalai Lama, every plate goes out the same.” He was passionate about making sure people LOVED the food he served.

Jose was an extremely smart man who was dedicated to spreading love, kindness and knowledge. He was proud of his family and friends and felt blessed to know so many wonderful people. His hope would be for everyone he knew and loved, to be kind, to love and give of yourself without expectations of anything in return.

Jose is survived by his son David Jimenez, his daughter Vanessa Romero, Daughter in law (Tannia Romero) his grand-daughter Nadia, the light of his life who called him Pop Pop. Proceeded in death by his birth mother Juana Jimenez, he was raised by Maria Lopez and the late Juan Lopez who he called mom and dad.

Jose was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Lopez, John Lopez, and his sister Rose Orive. He is survived by his siblings Olga Hernandez, Alfredo Lopez, Rudy Lopez, Joe Lopez, and Marty Lopez.

“And he still gives his love, he just gives it away

The love he receives is the love that is saved

And sometimes is seen a strange spot in the sky A human being that was given to fly…”
