John (Jack) Joseph Ziegler of Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully on July 22, 2015 at the age of 83. John was born to Frank and Norine Ziegler on July 18, 1932 in Hebron, Nebraska and graduated from Hebron High School.
He joined the Navy in 1950, stationed out of San Diego, CA. where he met and married Carole A. Miller of Tucson, AZ, daughter of James F. Miller and Francis F. Smiley.
John and Carole moved to Scottsdale, AZ where they raised 6 children. He was an electrician by trade and worked at ASU before transitioning to Motorola where he retired. He also built and ran the Tempe Health Club on Mill Ave.
Preceeded in death by his parents Frank and Norine; 2 sisters Jeanine (Burbach) and Francis (Gebers); and brother Gerald (Jerry); son-in-law Dave Robertson and daughter-in-law Cindy Ziegler. Survived by longtime companion Viola Wright, ex-wife Carole Ziegler; 6 children, Michelle Robertson Anderson, Daniel Ziegler, David (Karen) Ziegler, Greg Ziegler, Therese (Allen) Hoover, Christine Ktestes; 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He graduated from ASU with a Bachelor’s degree. His hobbies were prospecting, rock hounding, hunting and fishing. He also liked camping trips and built a cabin on the rim so he could enjoy the pines.
Graveside services will be on Tuesday July 28, 2015 at 11am at the VA National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. Cave Creek, AZ with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Serenity Hospice or any Cat Rescue.
