John Paul Erickson

John Paul Erickson, 74, entered into God's eternal care on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, from his Phoenix, AZ residence with his wife by his side. He was born on August 6, 1948 in Phoenix, AZ, to parents Palmer and Katherine (Fokken) Erickson.

John was a beloved husband to Linda Campbell Erickson for 15 years. He was a loving and caring son, brother, uncle, and friend in his precious life.

John was a Mail Carrier for US Postal Service for 34 Years. He received awards for accident-free driving and outstanding performance. He had an excellent memory for names and addresses, cheerfully recalling his treasured customers that he encountered after retirement. Prior to that, John was a truck driver for Hurley Trucking, delivering newspapers, mail and bread in mostly cabover trucks to various cities in Arizona.

John is a graduate of Phoenix Union High School and completed his Associates degree in electronics at Phoenix College.

Since retiring in 2004 John volunteered in many ways. He drove senior citizens to doctors, grocery stores and other places. He graciously volunteered his handyman services of electrical, auto and plumbing repairs to friends and family. He was a bell choir player, handyman advisor, and the head usher at Grace Lutheran Church for many years. He volunteered at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale for 2 years. Then he volunteered at St Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix for 13 years.

John enjoyed his early hobbies of golf, and building and flying radio control airplanes. With Linda, he enjoyed traveling, especially to the seashores of CA, NC, and SC. They also found enjoyment on cruises in the Gulf, Caribbean, and the Pacific Ocean. Locally, they attended plays and movies, sometimes with the Grace Cinema Club gang. They liked to walk in the Phoenix Zoo and the Desert Botanical gardens.

John is survived by his wife, Linda; sisters Kathleen Erickson and Patricia (Mike) Branham; brother, Ronald (Maryann) Erickson; as well as, many nieces and nephews. His family of In-laws greatly admired and loved him.

John was preceded in death by his father Palmer, mother Katherine, and brother Donald Erickson.

The family is grateful to Hospice of the Valley for their support.

A Memorial Service will be held for John at Grace Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 3 pm.
