John F. Dye, Jr., of Estancia, New Mexico has given up his earthly body and has gone to meet the Lord. The son of John F. Dye and Mildred A. Carter, he was born in Phoenix, Arizona on April 24, 1935. John spent the major part of his early years with his grandparents, and his childhood was a full one learning nature's ways. He had a keen appreciation of the great outdoors and enjoyed many a happy moment in the company of his horse and fished and hunted extensively in his native Arizona. He was a proud veteran of military service with the United States Air Force and went on to achieve success in the commercial world as an engineer specializing in process control systems which took him all over the United States. The most notable place was Cape Canaveral working with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration on vehicles for astronauts' space exploration.
During one of his assignments he met his now deceased wife, Oksanna Dye (nee Romanec) originally of Canada. To that union were joined two sons: Joseph, who currently resides in Albuquerque and Charles who calls San Francisco, home. John's circle of friends was always growing largely due to his sense of humor and his belief that an outstretched hand was always preferable to a clenched fist. He lived his life on his own terms, but was always considerate of others. The two most often used words in his vocabulary were "thank you" and they expressed his belief that gratitude was essential to living a full and productive life. Anyone who came in contact with John left his company happier and that is perhaps his greatest legacy. No man or woman was ever a stranger to him...at least not for long. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and family but will always be remembered. Burial will be organized by the A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary in Phoenix and graveside services will be held later this month at the Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in the city of his birth.
