Long time Tempean, Joan Margaret Trimble returned to God on June 17, 2021 at Friendship Village, Tempe Arizona, at the age of 101 years. She joins her departed husband John, grandson Wesley, brother Jack Steel, and parents John and Winifred Steel. She is survived by her sons Steven (Bobbie Miller), William Rand (Kristi), and John Michael; grandchildren Christian, John, Christopher, and Patrick; great grandchildren Jake, Rachael Grace, Jackson, Lila, Charlie, Francie, Winnie, and Everett.
Joan was born in Grantham, England on July 4, 1919. At the age of 4, she immigrated to Ajo, Arizona where her father was a mining engineer. She graduated from Arizona State University as a member of Pleiades/Mortar Board and President of West Hall in 1941 and started teaching elementary school. She married the love of her life John on August 8, 1942. During World War II, she held various jobs including an announcer for radio advertisements. Joan and John were married for 69 years and owned a farm equipment business in Mesa. Joan was active in the Tempe community in roles such as Cub Scout den mother. She was a member of Tempe Community Christian Church. Joan was also a member of PEO for over 60 years and loved all her PEO sisters.
The family thanks all who touched Joan's life, especially the caretakers at Friendship Village and Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Mortuary. Joan's Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 30th 2021 at 2pm, Community Christian Church 1701 S College Avenue Tempe, Arizona 85281.
