Most commonly known as Tanque, Jesus Manuel Licon Sanchez was much more than just hard working man. His closest friends and family knew him as "The Guy with a Heart of Gold." Born in the city of Aldama, Chihuahua, he spent most of his childhood working to help feed his brother and sisters, rather than getting an education. Nothing would stop his determination to better his situation and become known for his hard work.
As he tried to better his life for himself and his family, he discovered a move to the United States was a better decision financially. In his early 20s, he landed in Los Angeles, California where his life would be changed forever. Jesus decided to start a family, and he ended up with three girls and two boys. One of his proudest moments was when his local newspaper picked up his soccer team for being Winnetka City Champions. Soccer was his beloved sport of choice. He was always having friends and family entertain with his great sense of humor and ability to have dance moves at any given moment.
In the early 2010s, Jesus decided his life needed a change, and moved to Arizona. He continued to do hard labor to fulfill his goals of owning his own property. He was very humble, and never asked for much. All he wanted was a piece of property where he could garden and raise roosters. Jesus enjoyed his life as a farmer, and looked forward to moving to his little home.
At the later stages of Jesus' life, health problems began to occur. He struggled with illnesses and infections for a long period of time. Jesus struggled in fighting kidney problems. However, in the midst of his health problems, he would continue to strive to better himself. He never wanted anyone to worry about how much in pain he was in. He would always try to take care of other people before himself. Jesus was a selfless man, fighting through the pain and pushing aside the severity of his illnesses. He came to a day where his heart couldn't take any more pain. July 15, 2021 is when Jesus took his last breath.
Needless to say, Jesus made all his friends and family proud. His perseverance to continue to push forward, no matter how hard any situation was. He would find a way to keep going with his "Heart of Tarumara," as he would proclaim. One thing you can take away from his life, is that even though he would say it much; he loved his family and would always work hard for them not to worry about anything. Regardless of what he went through, he was always thankful for his blessings and always had faith in Jesus.
