2022 at the age of 75 after a very long and courageous battle with cancer.
She endured so much pain and suffering; especially during her last year,
but there was one thing that you could count on. Janet never complained.
She continually faced each and every trial with grace and leaned on her
heavenly father for the strength to keep going. She fought so hard to stay
here with her family for as long as possible, but she knew the Lord was
calling her home and she was ready to meet Him. Her pain is no more.
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more,
neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the
former things have passed away. Revelation 21:4
Janet is survived by her husband C.R. of almost 57 years, daughter Debi
(Steve) Ruetz, Richard (Belinda) Lujan, Mark (Tracy) Lujan, grandchildren
Teddy, Zachary, Maggie, Jeremy, Emma, Alex and Devin. She is also
survived by her three siblings, Roberta Duke, Phyllis Duke, and Ralph
Murphy.
Born on November 11, 1946, in Akron, Ohio, Janet was the youngest of
Ralph and Mildred Murphy’s four children. She definitely took advantage of
that position in the family. With her blond curls and frilly dresses, she would
often be twirling and dancing to capture the attention of her older siblings
and their friends.
During her high school years, her dad took her and her mom on what they
thought was a vacation; however, it ended up being a permanent move to
Mesa, Arizona. Not too long after, Janet met her high school sweetheart
and was married in 1965.
First and foremost, Janet was a devoted wife and homemaker. She taught
as a special needs para-professional within the Paradise Valley School
District for about 20 years. Janet touched the lives of hundreds of children
and families. Often when in public, so many would recognize “Miss Janet”
and be so excited to say hello and receive that unforgettable smile. Janet
loved all the roles that she was given in her life, but the one she loved the
most was being “Oma”. She made a lasting and positive impact on her
grandchildren’s lives. She knew how to love greatly and was greatly loved.
