I have never forgotten Jim Weiers' exemplary leadership, nor his kindness.  Jim was my first boss, at my first "real" job opening the McDonald's restaurant at Cactus & Tatum while Paradise Valley Mall was under construction.  His light-hearted yet laser-focused approach to achieving excellence won him the respect and adoration of every employee, and brought the attention of Mr. Ray Kroc to come visit our new and AAA -rated operation. Although Jim was not that much older than all of us goofy young trainees, he was a terrific role model; he remains a picture of just the sort I wish we had more of these days. May God bless his legacy.

I am so saddened to find out the news of Jim's passing.  My prayers go out to Gina, Jim and Gina's kids, the grandchildren and all the Weiers family.  I was blessed to know Jim and Gina for many years as church friends and when Jim served in the Arizona House as Speaker.  Although I haven't seen or talked to Jim and Gina for years, I have thought about them and prayed for them often.   Although I am saddened about Jim leaving us,  I am also praising God that he is now at peace and rejoicing in Heaven with Jesus and the angels.

I have known Jim and his family since 1970. We worked together at McDonald's  for 7-8years. His dad used to cut my hair back in those days. Our thoughts go out to all of Jim's family.

Jim was one of the most gracious and kind men I have had the pleasure of knowing.  We worked together on political issues which  could be very challenging.  On occasion we would come upon a sticky situation that could have brought on some antagonism.  I'd look at Jim and most often I'd see the twinkle in his eyes and invariably he'd have some off-the-cuff remark bringing laughter to both of us.  Jim's wonderful wife and family have been delightful friends.  We spent much time working and praying together.  Jim's wife, family and friends have suffered a great loss, but Heaven will never be the same!!!

Jim helped our school during one of its most challenging times. Many years ago, he saved our new charter school by putting his money and reputation on the line to get us through some of the school’s beginning year trials. We will be forever grateful to that courageous man and his family. Because of him, that struggling new school grew into a small network of schools that have helped thousands of children receive a superior education. Jim’s contributions to Arizona are countless. There are thousands of children that have gone on to become successful professionals today because of him. Thank you, Jim, for everything you did for Arizona’s children. May you rest in peace, friend.

Jim Weiers was someone who brought humor into the world, and I am blessed to have known him. I will share my favorite memory of him. I was a lobbyist for APS at the time, and I believe Jim was in the Senate chairing some committee or other. Marty Shultz, also a lobbyist for APS, was testifying and Jim was giving Marty a hard time in the funny way he had. And I couldn't keep it together and started laughing, quietly I may add. Of course, I am in the front row because I was sitting by Marty, and he is always a front row guy. Anyway, Jim stops the committee hearing, looks at me, with that smirk of his, and says that this was no laughing matter and that he was not going to continue until I pull myself together. That, of course, makes me laugh even harder.  And every time I started to get myself under control, he would say something else to get me going. It was some time before the committee got back on track. Rest in Peace! I am sending my condolences and prayers to his loved ones. Sincerely, Gretchen Kitchel

It has truly be rewarding to have known and called Jim Weiers, his wife and family a friend. God blessed the day we met. He also was a great mentor to us, as a member of the Arizona Senate and as Speaker of the House. I appreciated his living his faith and letting the light of Jesus Christ guide him. May all remember the wisdom he imparted to us. Our prayers are with all who loved Jim. I would love to hear what Jim and Jesus are talking about. Larry and Linda Gray
