James Nelson Sweeney, born December 15, 1925 to James H. and Ada C. Sweeney in Bloomfield, Missouri departed this world on December 9, 2017 from brain hemorrhage and pneumonia. He was preceded by his beloved wife Esther of over 60 years in December 2005. He leaves behind 4 children, 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He served in the Navy during World War 2 (Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Philippines, Japan), Korea, Cuban and the Laotian conflicts. His military service lasted until 1967 when he retired as a Chief Petty Officer. His other professions included Bus Driver, Head Custodian and Groundkeeper for Folsom School District in Folsom California and then Dysart Schools in El Mirage Arizona, later he established his own Landscaping Business serving Sun City, Arizona. Known for his bright blue eyes, endearing smile and friendly nature his presence will be greatly missed at future family functions. His service will be held at 10:30a.m. on Friday December 15, 2017 at Maranatha Baptist Church 9120 N. 95th Ave., Peoria, AZ. Pastor Peter Lopez officiating.
