Jimmy was born on May 27, 1943, to James Vincent and Marion Sarlo in Port Chester, NY. He graduated from Stepinac High School in 1961. Jimmy took a few years traveling across the country and then was drafted and entered the U.S. Army.
He was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1967 where he met his beloved wife, Ruth Hesse. They settled in Mamaroneck, NY and had one son, Peter Sarlo.
When returning from Frankfurt Jimmy spent time on Wall Street. Through his love of golf, he found his calling at Brae Burn Country Club in Purchase, NY where he worked for over 30 years. He loved the members and his coworkers dearly. After retiring, he moved to Phoenix, AZ so he could play golf year- round.
Jimmy was full of life and had a strong passion for golf, horse racing, and football. He was very active in retirement as he golfed twice a week and bet on the horses every Wednesday, He was well respected and made many connections through the years in New York and Arizona. Jimmy's sense of humor was one of a kind as he loved telling hilarious jokes and stories; he could happily talk your ears off anytime.
Jimmy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family to the end. One of his favorite sayings -"The same things that make you laugh are the same things that make you cry and vice versa." holds so true. His voice can no longer be heard, but his memory holds strong through everyone who has ever known him and those memories may make us cry, but with time they will make us smile with how wonderful of a person he was. Jimmy will be missed deeply and though no longer here we’re sure somewhere he is having a glorious time playing golf watching over us all.
Jimmy was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Ruth, son Peter, granddaughter Jennifer, brother Anthony (Buddy) Sarlo (Joann), nephew David Sarlo (Caroline) and family, niece Nanci Jo Sarlo and family, niece Sabina, as well as numerous relatives throughout the United States and Germany.
