Irene was born in Athens, Greece on October 18, 1918, and passed away in Phoenix on February 7, 2012, at the age of 93. At the age of 11, she had a strong passion to become a seamstress. Her parents supported her dreams by pulling her out of grade school and having her trained by a prominent seamstress in Greece. In 1947, she immigrated to the United States and arrived in Ellis Island, NY with her daughter, Christina, and son, George. She and her two children joined Irene's husband, James, in Lowell, Massachusetts where their youngest son, Theodosius, was born. The family resided in Massachusetts until 1955 then moved to Los Angeles. In 1957, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona where they continued their careers and began "Soiles Fine Tailoring". They tailored for high-profile companies such as Diamonds, Porters, Sears, Skomers, Hanneys, Goldwater Stores, and individuals throughout the community who needed their services. Irene and her husband, James, were active members of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Irene was a member of the Philoptichos Society, and was a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include one sister, 3 children, 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren. The viewing for Irene will be held Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00pm with Trisagion service starting at 7:00 p.m. at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd., Phoenix. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1973 E. Maryland Ave., Phoenix.
