Henry Gene (Hank) Hansen, age 90, of Phoenix, Arizona, did pass through heavens gates on Tuesday evening, January 31, 2017 at White Roses with his amazing wife Shirley, by his side. Born May 1 1926, near Inavale, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Alf Eli Hansen and Aletha Ollie (Campbell) Hansen. As the second oldest, he out lived his brother Glen, and sisters JoAnn, Katherine and Donna.
Henry G Hansen was an Army Master Sergeant, with the Service Troop, 8th Calvary, honorably discharged at Fort Beale, California, on the 25th of December 1946, after having entered the service on the 5th of April 1945 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. A Quartermaster Supply Technician, he also qualified as a Master Marksman on the M1 rifle in May 1945. He was awarded the Asian-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal.
Hank worked at Shamrock Dairy, then Shamrock Foods for 35 years before retirement. He enjoyed family, church, traveling, playing cards and board games, fishing, bird hunting and working / fixing just about everything. He always said, like his father, he was a “jack of all trades, but a master of none."
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Shirley Ann (Dunkin) Hansen; along with three children; Debbie and Bob Sullivan of Mesa, AZ, Kevin and Ginger Hansen of Chandler, AZ, Dorcas Ciskowski, of Phoenix, AZ; 9 grandchildren, Chad, Amy, Christopher, Tammi, Tara, Megan, Ashley, Amber, Clinton; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Hank Hansen will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 17, 2017 Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Mortuary and Memorial Gardens, 4310 East Southern Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85042, with pastor Paul Klimke officiating. Burial will follow at the same site. Friends may visit with the family at a celebration of Henry’s life, after burial also, at the same facility. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Sullivan, Bronson Ledbetter, Clinton Ciskowski, Ron Asper Lambrecht, Jason Ryan, Nolan Church, Steve Thompson and Heath Sullivan.
