Helen L. Tang, 83, passed away surrounded by her family, on Sept. 2, 2017. She was the loving wife of Bill for 59 years. Helen was born, April 16, 1934, in Glendale, the ninth child of Kim S. and Yee Shee Tang.
Helen attended Glendale High School, Phoenix College, and graduated from UCLA with a degree in Education. She taught at Jorgensen, Cordova, Granada, and Desert Palms elementary schools for over 17 years. Helen had a great love of children. She touched and influenced many young lives, not only as an elementary school teacher, but as a scout leader and Sunday School teacher. Helen was a gifted cook and seamstress, creative and generous with her time and talents. She lived life fully, playing sports, actively participating in the community, organizing family get-togethers and enjoying travel adventures. Helen's greatest passion was her family, loving and serving them. We were so blessed.
Survivors include her husband Bill, children Cheryl Switzer (Paul), Rob (Denise), Gayle Jow (Kent), Julie Wong (Andy), Janice Sapp (Tim), 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Beloved sister to Ying (Catherine), Ben (Pauline), Sam (Janie), MayKing (Ed, dec.), Mayen Yue (Joe), and Betty Lee (John); sister-in-laws Mary and Kathleen; and many nieces and nephews. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Don, Lang, Jack and KC.
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, from 6-9 p.m. at A.L Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Serenity Chapel, Greenwood Memory Lawn, 2300 W. Van Buren St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
