Helen C. Benson

Born Aug 7, 1934 in Seminole, Ok and passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Oct 17, 2011 in Phoenix AZ. Helen is a graduate of Phoenix Union High School and then began her business career at Valley National bank and completed her business career with the AZ State Compensation Fund as an office manager and trainer of fellow employees, managers and executives in her field if expertise as an underwriter at SCF. Her knowledge, linked with her calm demeanor, garnered much respect from those who sat under her teaching and worked under her supervision. She won many awards and retired after 25 years at SCF. Both her family and friends loved her and honored her for the warm, kind woman she was. She was devoted to her family, and particularly to her husband Prescott "Scott" Benson as a minister's wife for over 50 years, who survives her along with her blessed daughters, Debbie (Bob) McKillip and Denise (Ken) Murdock along with their children, listed here: Her grandchildren are Michael (Cari) Martinez, Marcus (Krissy) Martinez and Janea and Prescott Murdock. Great grandchildren Colby & Dylan Martinez; Kaela, Braeton & McKinley Martinez. Also survived by 3 sisters: Dorothy Parkinson, Retta Leatherbury & Mary DeBerge and brother Homer Hall. These are her surviving family members she loved so deeply through the years. A funeral service will be held at Paseo Verde Christian Church, 7569 W Greenway Rd, Peoria on Saturday, October 22, at 10:00am. Viewing will be at 9:00am. A graveside service will be at East Resthaven Memorial Park, 4300 E Southern Ave in Phoenix following these services. A luncheon will be served at the church at 1:30pm.
