Hayden Parker Dyer passed away August 8, 2022. Hayden was born February 22, 1923, in Akron, Ohio. He was the oldest of 5 children of the late Elope King Dyer and Maymie Louisa Parker. He went to work in the defense industry, building aircraft during WWII in Wichita, KS. After the war he worked in a jewelry store repairing watches. On June 16, 1946, he married Mattie Leona Goodin who preceded him in death in 2011. They came to Phoenix, Arizona on December 7, 1947, where Hayden worked in construction. Together they built a house in Tempe, where they began their family before moving to central Phoenix; Terry Lee (Lynne), Phillip Steven (Trish), John David (Debran), Kosette, Raymond Jay (Michelle) and numerous foster kids. He was a wonderful husband, loving father to his children, grandfather to 18 grandchildren, and great grandfather to 38 great grandchildren. In addition to building homes for decades, H.P. worked on commercial buildings, churches and schools across the state. He was also the superintendent of the Mesa Arizona Temple remodel in 1974-75. Hayden and Leona joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1953. Together they served many missions for their church: Arizona State Women’s Prison, Jamaica Kingston Mission, Houston Texas Mission, Manila Philippines Temple, Cochabamba Bolivia Temple, Lima Peru Temple, Merida Mexico Temple, and the Salt Lake Family History Center. A visitation will be held at 9:00 am, with funeral service to follow at 10:00 am, on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Biltmore LDS Ward Building, 1835 East Missouri Avenue, Phoenix, with burial following at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W Van Buren, Phoenix.
