Our dear father and grandfather Harry Shipe Beasley was called from this world to the Lord on Sunday, February 15, 2015 with the enduring love and respect of his family.
A son of the late Elsie Shipe and Robert E. Lee Beasley of Las Cruces NM, he was raised in Soledad Canyon NM, in the Organ Mountains east of Las Cruces, as a rancher. After the government impounded the land to create the White Sands Missile Range he became a cowboy, and a miner where he learned blasting skills, until called to serve in the Army. After serving his country he came to Phoenix and put his blasting skills to work as a powderman in excavation work. Many of the Arizona freeways, mountain roads, homes, resorts and swimming pools are built upon his work. During dry spells for contracts he did some prospecting and odd jobs including cowboy work for his brother Bob, guiding horse rides on the Phoenix Mountain Preserve trails. He continued the blasting work into retirement.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Bob, Bert and Jim, his daughter Frances and his wife Anne, and is survived by his sister Margaret, his children Lisa, Harry, Tom, Belle and Debra, and son-in-law Johnny Morgan, as well as 14 grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren, and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Friday February 27th at the Phoenix Memorial Park & Mortuary, 200 W Beardsley Rd Phoenix AZ 85027. There will be a reception at his home after services.
