George Bernal Rodgers, 90, born 11/7/1921 in Fort Worth, Texas, to George E. and Jenny Rodgers (Keefer), passed away peacefully in his home on 3/16/2012. George was preceded in death by his son Michael E. Rodgers in 1972. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years Maxine, daughters Patty Becker and Jo Ann Wiess, son in law, Bob Wiess, 3 grandchildren Michael Becker, David Becker, Earl Becker, great grandchild Brooklinn Becker, siblings, Mildred Abbott, Donald Rodgers and Barbara Putnam. George enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and went on to become an aviation machinist’s mate second class receiving an honorable discharge after four years of service. George made his career as a sheet metal contractor and partner of J. B. Rodgers Air Conditioning from which he retired in 1981. Deep sea fishing in Cholla Bay, Mexico on his boat the “OSO” was his passion and served as President of the Cholla Bay Sportsman’s Club for 2 years. He also enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, golfing, pitching washers, poker, playing the harmonica and storytelling. A generous man, George was nonjudgmental, strong in his beliefs, and had a lot of impact on a lot of people’s lives. He will surely be remembered by all that knew him. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 30, 2012, at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 N. 27th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, 85009. A gathering for friends and family immediately following at the Rodgers’ home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: St. Vincent De Paul, P.O.
