George was born on June 18, 1938, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he later served as a police officer for 18 years. In 1980, George married Susan Walsh and they relocated to Phoenix in 1992, where they resided for the next 31 years.
George enjoyed many activities with his wife and friends over the years including square dancing, travel, shuffleboard at the Elks Lodge, and walking with his friends at the Arrowhead Mall. His greatest passion and talents were on display in his role as a Grampie. He took every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren when he could. He will be greatly missed by many.
George was predeceased in death by Susan (Walsh) Ray, his wife of 43 years, his mother Dorothy (Dunn) Ray, his father George Francis Ray, and his sisters Dorothy DiFava and Barbara Breda.
George is survived by his siblings, sister Jean Perry and brother Billy Ray. He leaves behind his children Annemarie and Peter Resteghini, Kathy Woodward, Michael Ray, Julie Ray, Marybeth Ray, Nancy Ray, Brendan Walsh and Rachel Sulkes, Christopher Walsh and Marcie McNaughton Walsh, and Jason Walsh.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Ashley Ray, Taylor Resteghini, Matthew Woodward, Anna Walsh, Naomi Walsh, Zoe Walsh, Sydney Walsh, Jared Walsh, Camryn Walsh, Craig Collins, Isabella Collins, Victoria Collins, Ronnie Edgehill, and Melissa Edgehill-Veliz and his great grandchildren Lylah and Natalie Woodward and Rocky Veliz Jr.
Memorial Services for George will be held at the Firehouse Event Center in Peoria, AZ on Saturday, February 10 at 1pm and at Sacred Heart Church in Cambridge, MA on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 10:00am.
