George was not just my cousin, but an incredible human being.   Both intellectually curious, and a student of life, he had that rare ability to have both philosophical and practical conversations.   He was a deep thinker who also had a wonderful sense of ironic humor.   In our early years we were separated by both geography and age, but in later years — once we reconnected— he became in many ways the big brother I never had.   And he was a man of great faith who did not lecture, but walked the talk.  His trip to Texas for our son’s Veterans’ Day celebration was meaningful to us all, and he said it was an especially healing celebration for him, given the aftermath of the Vietnam War.   I will continue to miss our lengthy conversations and his caring spirit, but I am happy he is reunited with his beloved wife Mary, his parents and our grandparents.   And I know we will meet again.  

Dear Russell, Pam, and Noah,

Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of George, your very much loved father and grandfather.  He was a wonderful person who gave freely of himself to others and to his country.  After many years of limited contact, we became closer through a visit that he and Mary made to Wisconsin, and through long phone conversations.  We talked about our families, shared many ideas, and particularly enjoyed reminiscing about our Grandma and Grandpa Androne.  We got a lot of laughs out of a long-running mystery of what had happened to a tin cup that we all used to use at our grandparents’ house.  His warmth and kindness will be missed by all of us.  Once again, please accept my deepest sympathy at this sad time.

Dear Russell Androne Family,

Please accept sincerest sympathies and condolences from your Androne cousins.  As we approach the time of George's memorial service,  we will be thinking of you and your loss.  Although we cannot be in Arizona, we will be reflecting on George's life and his service to country and society, and we have many memories of George's childhood long ago.  The vivid picture of your father and grandfather as a happy, handsome, and hopeful child standing in his grandfather's sunny backyard long ago will always be with us.

I am the only sibling of George, me being a snot nosed younger sister.  Whenever we were playing Cowboys and Indians or Cops and Robbers, he always let me play along, we used to have so much fun.  In our teen years, we lost our father, which was devasiting to us both.  That is when George stepped up to the plate and took  me under his wing.  I idolized  my big brother.  Just before he went to Vietnam,  he bought  a brand new 1967 bright yellow corvette convertible, he left it at home so I could drive it, can you imagine  the thrill I got as a 17 year old girl driving that car around.  In adulthood we kind of went our separate ways,  he in  Arizona  and me in South Carolina,  but we always knew we  could  count on each other and loved each other,  Rest easy dear sweet brother,  I shall miss you every day until we are together again on the other side.
