Genevieve V. Jimenez entered this world on January 3, 1939 in Columbus, New Mexico and left us on October 2, 2023, at the age of 84 to be with her Savior. She married her husband “Turie” in 1955 and they spent the next 68 years together. She was a committed and loving wife.
Also known as Guera to many, she was a faithful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, godmother, and friend. “Auntie Guera” was a legend to many nieces and nephews. She was full of life, a free spirit and an independent example for those whose lives she touched. She loved to laugh! She will be remembered for her bright smile and infectious laugh. She had a sassy nature and loved to tease. She was kind, generous, and always thoughtful. She sincerely cared about others. She will forever be remembered for these attributes.
Over the first years of life with “Turie” she stayed at home to raise her three girls. She raised three independent daughters and instilled strong values and beliefs. She was an enduring positive influence and shared her love freely.
Once she began working, she went to school and began her work as a Cosmetologist. After a few years she started work as an Administrative Assistant for the Westminster School District. She loved interacting with people, the high school kids and all of her coworkers. She always made everything fun.
Once retired, she and her husband “Turie” enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends. They traveled the U.S., enjoyed several cruises and always had time for a trip to Laughlin with friends. She would talk often about their trips, the good memories and the fun they had.
She loved to crochet and she made blankets as gifts for her family and friends. One year, she made baby blankets for all of the grandchildren and future great grandchildren. She also made baby blankets and donated them to a family shelter. Over the years she had several puppies. She called them her fur babies and she loved those puppies! They provided companionship and unconditional love to “Mom” throughout the years. These are just a few examples of her caring nature.
She is survived by her forever love Turie Jimenez; daughters and sons-in-law: Cindy & Jesse Ortega, Dolly & Richard Lomeli; grandchildren: Jando, Christy, Benjamin, Amanda, Fernando, Jessica, Hector, Eric and Miesha; great grandchildren: Vincent, Adilyn, Ethan, Samantha and Jasmine. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law Emilia Morales, Maria-Lola & Tony Tovar, Teri Delgado, and Victoria & Ted Mora. She also had a large extended family, including numerous godchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends. She will be dearly missed by all of those who loved her.
The family of Genevieve would like to thank the medical staff at Arrowhead Hospital and Hospice of the Valley for the care and compassion they provided during her brief illness.
Rest in Peace, dear Genevieve.
