She was born November 16, 1943 in Abilene Texas and moved to Phoenix AZ in 1962 to build her life with family and friends. She was preceded by her parents, Thomas and Helen Ellison, and her son, Lonnie Olson. She was a faithful wife to John Olson for 55 years; loving mother to Kimberly Duffield, Lonnie Olson, and her step sons Dennis and Shawn Ozment; loving sister to Kay Smith, Dan Ellison, and Diane Klingler; adoring grandmother to her 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and a caring companion to the very best friend a person could ask for, Linda Tellis.
She was a passionate homemaker, her family and friends were her entire world. Professionally, she worked in real estate and owned a children's store with her daughter, where she enjoyed having her grandkids at work every day.
Elaine loved the holidays and any reason for her family to be together to spend quality time and play games. She always went all out with decorations to excite the grandbabies, and put a lot of heart into every gift and card she gave. She loved giving gifts, watching her happiness and excitement brought us more joy than the gifts themselves. Her favorite pastime was traveling to Laughlin with her best friend Linda Tellis, they also loved their girls' days in Phoenix shopping and dining. We always joked that if Kohl's put up a photo for shopper of the month, there would be multiple of her. She was an avid reader, watcher, and even more avid talker; often on the phone for hours at a time. Elaine was her friends' and family's shoulder to cry on. Always ready to give advice, even if it was unsolicited, she wanted to help in any way that she could. Her favorite days were when any of her grandkids came to visit. She had a room full of toys of all ages to play with; she wouldn't get rid of any toys, always looking forward to the next grandbaby.
Her friends and family will be celebrating her life, all together as she would have loved, on Sept 7th at 1pm at 37117 N 16st Phoenix AZ 85086. Her favorite cuisine will be served for lunch, Mexican food. All are welcome to join and share this event with anyone who would like to join in the celebration of her life.
