Fran Johnson (80), of Waukegan, IL, died Monday, January 19th, 2015, surrounded by her family. She lives on in the hearts of her adoring husband Dr. Thomas D. Johnson, married since June, 1962, and their children; Son Frank Johnson and grandchildren Tommy, Jennifer and Geoff; Daughter Betty Koller and her husband Kraig and grandchildren Brittany and Kristopher; Daughter Lynn Johnson-McGarry and her husband Mike and grandchildren Lindsey, Ashley and Kayla. She was also known as the “Favorite Aunt” of many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother F. Duane Hendricks and sister June Maguire.
Fran deeply loved her family, friends, students and patients, which was demonstrated in all her gracious acts of kindness, teaching and compassion. She worked alongside her husband Tom in their Chiropractic practices in both Sun City and Phoenix, AZ.
Fran joined Beta Sigma Phi International in Wisconsin and in 1963, transferred into Xi Alpha Beta Chapter in Phoenix. During her 50+ years in the organization, she held every office in her Chapters and was named Woman Of The Year and Valentine Queen many times. She received The Masters Degree for her years and participation of service. Fran was an active member of Alpha Omega Master Chapter at the time of her passing. She was instrumental in the chapters service projects, gathering donations for Food Banks, Homeless and The New Life Organization.
Fran also received her Masters Degree in Nursing from ASU College of Nursing. She worked in and served on the Board of Directors of many local hospitals. She will forever be remembered for the long upbeat greeting every time she answered the phone. She made a huge impact on everyone she met and will always be cherished by those that knew her.
