Frances was born in Whitleyville, Tennessee on the 30th of May in 1932. She grew up on a large farm with hard-working parents and 10 siblings. Her childhood and teen years were during the Great Depression and World War II. This gave her the foundation for being happy living a simple life with gratitude for all that she had.
She spent 30 years in Alliance, Ohio as a wife and mother to three daughters. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona in the early 1980's with her second husband Charles (Chuck) Betz. They moved to be closer to family members that had headed west several years earlier. She loved the lifestyle and the warm weather in Phoenix - even the summers. Chuck preceded her in death by 14 years.
Frances enjoyed walking, gardening, sewing and baking. Her chocolate chip cookies were the best! But most of all, she enjoyed being with family.
She is survived by her three daughters: Dee Roy of Joppa, MD, Clara Barthold pf Phoenix, AZ and Linda Scelza of Fairport, NY; five grandchildren: Heather Roy and Robert Clay Roy of Joppa, Jennifer Barczuk and Lauren Leeper of Phoenix, and Jimmy Karr of Massilon, OH. She was blessed with 8 great-grandchildren; Jake and Nick Roy, Gamble Barczuk, Van and Rad Leeper, Juliana, Sean and Colton Karr. They will all miss her very much.
Her final resting place will be at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ. A small Memorial Service for placement of her ashes into the columbarium with Chuck will be on May 9, 2025.
