Woodhouse – Evans Robert (Woody) died peacefully on January 8, 2015 in Phoenix. He was born at home on July 17, 1917 in Houston, Texas, the fifth of eight children. The family moved to El Paso in 1921 where he grew up.
Predeceased by his wife and best friend Bettie in 2003, Evans is survived by his children Evans (Linda), Donna Buddy and Craig; his grandchildren Patricia and Kimberly Buddy, Laura (Justin), Diane (Michael), Molly and Christopher; and his great grandchildren Stone, Slater, Recker, Hunter and Sasha.
Evans and Bettie were married in Los Angeles in 1940 and decided to raise their family in Phoenix after the war. He was with GMAC for 40 years. In retirement, he was involved with friends, fishing and traveling, aside from being everyone’s second grandpa. His greatest pleasure was received when spending time with his family.
A visitation and rosary will be held Monday night January 12, from 6-8 pm at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Road. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 am Tuesday January 13, at St. Gregory Church, 3424 N. 18 Ave. in Phoenix with graveside services to follow at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street in Phoenix.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Beatitudes or Hospice of the Valley. They ultimately became family too.
