Eugene "Gene" Irving Carbine

Eugene Irving Carbine, passed at his home with family by his side on Monday, February 25, 2019 joining his parents and 10 siblings along with dear friends in heaven. Gene leaves behind his beloved wife Mary (Calhoun), whom he has cared for valiantly for many years, children Alan (Lynn Konrath), Alden (Sallie Figueroa), Vicki (Mark Lescoe), Duane (Peter Valencia), and Barbara (Ron Kennedy), 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Gene enjoyed hiking the mountains of Arizona. He was a jokester and storyteller. His engaging stories included fond memories of his dedicated Navy service in WWII and Korea, and his 38 years as a Phoenix firefighter. He retired as Captain, and would say “He never worked a day in his life” because he loved the fire department and his firefighter family. He belonged to The Last Man’s Club, a charitable organization, which was begun by childhood friends who kept in touch throughout their lives. Graveside services will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, on Tuesday, March 5th at 10:30 am.
