Alicia Camacho Aguayo (86) of Phoenix, Arizona passed away after an extended illness on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Her family surrounded her as she entered Jehovah's Kingdom. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on December 19, 1927 to Maria and Bienvenido Camacho, she was one of 10 children. She married Erwin Aguayo Sr. (deceased) also of Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1943 and they had three children, Alice (deceased), Ivette Stoll (68), and Erwin Jr. (67) of St. George, Utah, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. One brother Raul Camacho of San Juan, Puerto Rico, also survived her. Mr. and Mrs. Aguayo moved to Chicago after WWII and his discharge from the Army. Alicia wore several hats; she was a Truant Office and Community Representative for the Chicago Board of Education for 35 years until retirement. She also had her own driving school and taught high school students to drive. Alicia also felt that all women should drive and she taught her friends and anyone else to drive. Needless to say her children were also her students. After retirement she moved to Phoenix to be close to her family, where she lived with her loyal dog, Benji. Alice was a Jehovah Witness and a member the Kingdom Hall. Her family and friends will miss her. Alicia will be laid to rest with her late husband, a World War II veteran, at the National Memorial Cemetery on May 19, 2014 located at Pinnacle Peak and Cave Creek Road.
Arrangements under the direction of Shadow Mountain Mortuary, Phoenix, AZ.
