Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Ling, age 73 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Glendale, AZ. She was born on June 17, 1944 in Brookfield, MO to Jack and Eva (Johnson) Austin. She has one brother, Robert Wesley Austin. She was a graduate of Worthington Senior High School. Betty was married to her husband of 52 years, Barry James Ling, on August 31, 1965 at the First Baptist Church in Worthington, Minnesota. Betty and Barry spent the first half of their marriage raising their 4 children; Michael “Mick”, Jacqueline “Jacque”, Jennifer “Jennie”, and Megan, in the Omaha, Nebraska area until Barry’s career lead them to Phoenix, Arizona. They were blessed with 10 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and 7 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and precious granddaughter. Betty loved her husband and family. She had a very strong faith and spent many years volunteering in her local church. She taught children’s Sunday school for many years, mentored young moms in marriage, served as a deaconess and many other committees. She was selfless and loved helping others. She worked part time at the local Hallmark store for over a decade and thoroughly enjoyed it. Barry loved taking her to Hawaii and they were fortunate to travel there together many times. Besides her love for Jesus, her family came above all else, and her gifts and talents were best spent meeting the needs of her entire family by whom she was dearly loved. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 28th, at 3:00pm at Palmcroft Church, 15825 N 35th Ave Phoenix, AZ 85053.
