Our Dad, in the early morning hours of March 14, accepted his wife's hand to join her in heaven, he was 86 years old. Elias Vasquez, was born in Juarez Mexico to Jose Inez Vasquez and Virginia Vasquez. Elias was destined to be a musician from the very beginning. He started playing professionally at the age of 14 in the clubs of Juarez and continued to play until a couple years before his passing. In Juarez, he performed in the Radio with his sister Ruth. Elias played Jazz, Big Band, Swing, Afro Caribbean, latin, and Mariachi music. He played with the best of the best bands. Chapito Chavarria and Los Compas Bands were two of the local bands he spend many years with. His greatest accomplishments musically, was performing alongside, Amalia Mendoza and Juan Gabriel. Elias was a master mason by trade and his vocation matched his musical talents. Elias had his own style of music when playing his piano. People knew who was behind the piano whenever they heard the piano playing, a magician indeed.
Elias is preceded in death by his wife, Violeta Provencio Vasquez, brother Daniel, and sister Marta. He is survived by children, Elia, Irene, Violeta, Elias, Virginia, Laura, and Patricia. Siblings, Jose, Ruben, Manuel, Hector, Ruth, Dora, Virginia, and 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mass services will be held on March 21st a Our Lady of Fatima, 1418 S 17th Ave Phoenix AZ 85007 at 10 AM. Interment immediately following at GreenWood Memory Lawn Cemetery at 719 N 27th Ave Phoenix AZ 85009. Reception at the American Legion Post 41 at 715 S 2nd Ave at Phoenix AZ 85003.
