77, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on April 3, 2013. Edward "Duffy" Oscar Duffy, passed away on April 3, 2013 at the age of 77, as he was surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born on March 5, 1936, in Phoenix, Arizona and was a resident of the Phoenix area for 55 years. He had a long and successful career in the United States Navy, retiring after dedicating 20 years of service to his country as a Boiler Tender 1 (E6). He began his career on the USS Salisbury Sound, a seaplane tender and also served on the USS Hope, a comfort class hospital ship; USS Endurance, a mine sweeper; and the USS Guadalupe, a fleet replenishment oiler. He received numerous awards: 4-Good Conduct Medals; Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; National Defense Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea); and the China Service Medal. He also retired from the Hyatt Regency after working an additional 22 years as a Mechanical Engineer. In 1959, he married Lonna Foster and had 3 daughters: Diane (James) Myrick of Seaside, California; Lanette (Ben) Smith of Salinas, California and Sharon (Kris) Kennemer-Gritts of Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1987, he married Fe "Ping" Caridad Dilla (deceased) and had 2 daughters Michelle Duffy of Phoenix and Kathryn (Enrique) Duffy of Phoenix, additionally he had 2 stepdaughters Grazzelle (Jeremias) Rodriguez-Pajo of Phoenix, Errallyn Rodriguez of Phoenix, and a stepson Jun (Nela) Duffy of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his daughters and stepchildren, his brothers Ray (Jean) Duffy, Richard (Vera) Duffy and Don (Sandy) Duffy and his sister Lela Mae (Tom - deceased) Bolin, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the Service will be held Friday, April 12, 2013 at 9 a.m. with a burial following at 10:00 a.m. all located at the Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery at 719 North 27th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85009.
