Dorothy was born on March 27, 1932 in Dardnell, Arkansas to Oscar and Virginia Venable, of four children, Quinton, Dorothy, Christine and Darrell, she was the oldest daughter. She graduated high school from Dumas High in Dumas, Arkansas. At the age of 19, Dorothy had met the LOVE of her life, Cecil Clyde Pinkerton on a blind date. Six weeks later, September 26, 1951 they were married and have celebrated 62 wonderful years together. They began their life together in Dumas then moved to California, finally settling their home in Phoenix in 1959.
She is survived by an enormous amount of love and family, her soul mate and husband, Clyde. Her children, Shelley, Ronnie and Connie, Paul and Lynn Pinkerton, 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Her brother and sister in law Darrell and Arvilla Venable, sister in law Sarah Venable, Dessa Davis and Jewel Humble, and many many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her daughter, Lucinda “Cindy” Malinoski, parents Oscar and Virginia Venable, brother Quinton Venable and sister Christine Thude.
Dorothy was an inspiration to all, such a strong, determined and ornery (hee hee) woman. Together with her husband, she was the foundation, the heart and rock of her family. The well being of her family was always her priority in life. She had the strength to overcome all obstacles that she ever faced. She was a survivor of breast cancer for over 20 years.
Dorothy and Clyde enjoyed seeing the country after they retired, crisscrossing the nation several times in their fifth wheel. Dorothy was the best navigator, traveling secondary roads all the way. Together Clyde & Dorothy and Willie & Christine, Dorothy’s sister, purchased property in Forest Lakes Estates up on the rim. Both families worked to help build a wonderful cabin. There were many great weekends spent working on the cabin where all had a great time even with all the hard work. Long ago they started a tradition with their family and friends of camping at Bartlett lake every Easter. Dorothy & Clyde were there with family and friends on Easter as the tradition continued this year.
She had a 13-year battle of fighting Alzheimers. Clyde loved her well enough for her to survive longer than any of the experts predicted. She lost her battle and is now with her Lord and Savior.
