Dorothy Leona Conner Russell, of Phoenix, went to be with her Jesus at the age of 99 on Feb 28th, 2022. She was born in Santa Claus, IN on June 9th, 1922. She was married to Chester "Pete" Russell Aug. 29, 1942. Some said it would never last and they were blissfully married for 75 years. Dorothy excelled and loved homemaking, cooking, baking, sewing, quilting and serving others. She was well known for her pies and requested in lieu of flowers that you bake a pie for someone. Her 2 most favored pies were either the hot ones or the cold ones. She was an active member of Bethany Bible Church. Her passion and joy was her large family. She was preceded in death by her husband Chester "Pete" Russell, daughter Debbie Russell and granddaughters, Shelly Hitchcock and Rachael Hitchcock Massey. She is survived by son Maurice Russell (Nancy), daughters Sandy Hitchcock (Floyd), Candy Winklepleck (Larry), Becky Moore (Kevin) and Kristina Egley (Jeff), along with her "congregation" of grand, great grand and great-great grand that numbered 120. She was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
