Donald P. Moll, 85, of Phoenix, Arizona, died of complications from bladder cancer on May 28, 2017. Don was born in Woodhaven, New York, on November 6, 1931. Don grew up there with his parents, Julius and Agnes (Smith), and two older brothers, Harold and Lawrence. In 1950, Don married the love of his life, Jean (Fugelsang). The day after their wedding they boarded a Greyhound bus to begin the long ride to Phoenix and their new life together.
Don's quiet intellect and reasoned logic were both winning and appealing. He enjoyed reading, writing poetry, music, movies, and meaningful conversation. In a world without the Internet, Don could build or repair almost anything, and he was always in pursuit of personal development. With little formal education, he went from driving a delivery truck for Webster's Dairy in the 1950s to programming computers for General Electric and Honeywell in the 1960s and '70s. Don was introspective, principled, responsible, sincere, frank, practical, industrious, compassionate, loving, and authentic, and all who knew him will miss him.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, and his son, Brian. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean, and five sons: Clifford H. Moll (Gail), Gary W. Moll, Donald E. Moll (Connie), Kevin A. Moll, and Edward J. Moll; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Don's family will celebrate his life at the family home on a date to be determined and they wish to thank Dr. Jack Poles and the staff at HonorHealth Medical Group-North Phoenix, Dr. Donald Lamm, the nurses and doctors at Scottsdale Shea Medical Center, and the nurses at Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center.
