Dawn McGuire

Dawn was born on June 19, 1928 in Upton, CA to Chester and Josephine (Goering) VanGorder. She grew up traveling through small towns with her mother and two brothers, Carlton and Wayne while her mother taught school. Dawn worked for years in the computer manufacturing industry at both General Electric and Honeywell. She raised four children, daughters Susan, Sandy and Kate and son Jim.

Dawn had a passion for animals. Her favorite times were when she could interact with any kind of animal especially horses and dogs. Dawn volunteered for years at the Adobe Wildlife Rescue where she helped nurture injured wildlife back to health and visited elementary schools to teach children about the value of appreciating wildlife while providing hands on experiences with everything from eagles to snakes.

Dawn will be laid to rest in Phoenix, AZ during a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers Dawn’s family asks for donations to the Arizona Humane Society in her name.
