Daniel P. Secklin, 52, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away July 25, 2019. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 2, 1966, to Leonard and Barbara Secklin. Daniel graduated from Arizona State University in 1988 with a BA degree in Russian Language and then received his Master’s degree in Education in 1990. He spent most of his career in computer technology. Throughout his life, Daniel had a number of different jobs, and he fully appreciated a hard day’s work. He enjoyed reading, learning, gardening, Bible study, and the time he spent in the Genesis Men’s group at church. Dan’s strongest passion was for helping people, especially those in need, and he was well known for reaching out to individuals in their darkest hours - always putting the needs of others before his own. Although he had many reasons not to smile – he had experienced the death of a child, a parent, a sibling, and a wife – he always smiled genuinely, and he had an excellent sense of humor. Daniel was preceded in death by his infant son, Malachi, his father, Leonard B. Secklin, his brother, Terry Wasserman, and his (second) wife, Sylvia Secklin. He is survived by his three children: Ethan, Annaliese, and Isaiah, as well as their mother – Dan’s first wife, Amy Secklin, all of Mesa, Arizona. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara J. Secklin of Racine, Wisconsin, and five siblings: Sharon L. Ricklin (Robert Stenberg) of Racine, Wisconsin; Richard (Carmen) Secklin of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; Michael (Nina) Ricklin of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Pam L. Secklin (Nora) of St. Cloud, Minnesota; and Jean (Michael) Swesey of Cottonwood, Arizona. Daniel is also survived by his recent wife, Velvet Secklin, married on December 21, 2017; his aunt, Florence Manes of Hustisford, Wisconsin; cousins, loving nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Danny will be deeply missed and long remembered by all who knew him, and he will live forever in the hearts of all who loved him. Cremation arrangement entrusted to Shadow Mountain Mortuary, Phoenix, Arizona. Memorial services are pending.
