To James, Dan's brother:  You were a Freshman while Dan and us were Seniors.  Dan was a gentle, quiet person and he was a part of the whole of our class.  He played football early in his high school career and enjoyed the teachers who helped build our lives' foundation for knowledge.  Dan joined the Navy and visited many ports around the world, taking pictures to capture the variety of places and people.  He loved his Harley, he said, until he couldn't ride it anymore.  I looked forward to talking to him just to keep in touch.  His breathing became labored but he enjoyed our conversations.  He is finally at peace.               Larry Groggel, U High class of 1960
