Cynthia Lynette Momon was born February 22, 1955 to (the late) Alvis and Jeraldine Blanton in Dallas, Texas. She attended Dominguez Valley High School in Compton, California, and graduated in 1973. Cynthia married Edmond Dirl Momon Sr., on November 29, 1975, and through this union three children were born: Markeita Evonne, Edmond Dirl, Jr, and Anthony Eugene. The Momon family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1990. Cynthia immediately joined the First Institutional Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona, under the leadership of Pastor Warren H. Stewart, Sr. Cynthia served FIBC as an Administrative Assistant and Bookkeeper to Janet Caldwell, Lemuel D. Cannon and Brandon Chappell from 1992 to 2008. She was active in the Prison Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Transportation Ministry, Home Alone Ministry and served FIBC as a Notary Public. In addition to her work at FIBC, she became a licensed real estate agent in the early 2000’s. Cynthia was also known for her delicious homemade peach cobbler, which she often brought to staff occasions. In 2010 Cynthia was diagnosed with colon cancer. She kept the faith through her fight and her cancer went into remission. In 2012 Cynthia moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and began to attend Mountaintop Faith Ministries. Cynthia was a faithful member while at Mountaintop having served on the Bereavement Committee and displaying a great love for the Word of God. Cynthia returned to Phoenix, Arizona in 2013 to be with her family and FIBC family. Although she became ill, she enjoyed and looked forward to spending time with Juanita Kearney and Rosa Greene by going on outings to the movies and dining. All who knew her had a great love for Cynthia. She was a beautiful soul and epitomized a great love for God and family. She was known and loved by countless people. She leaves to mourn her departure: her daughter, Markeita Momon (Otis) of Phoenix, AZ; son, Edmond Momon, Jr. of Arlington, TX; son, Anthony Momon (Charity) of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Wilbert Lee Blanton Blair (Pat) of Maricopa, AZ; brother, Alvis Ray Blanton (Angelia) of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Maury Blanton (Angie) of Anchorage, AK; sister, Sheila Wright (James) of San Diego, CA; grandson, Rueben Rodriguez of Arlington, TX;
and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
