Cindy was born June 24th, 1957 in Texas City, to parents Gloria Monette and Harry Lavern Smith. Cindy, a lifelong Christian, loved her family, animals, the color purple, and peanut M&Ms.
Cindy married the love of her life Roger and became a Hanson on September 5th, 1987. Later that year, they gave birth to their first-born, a daughter, Kara Nicole Hanson. Four years later they welcomed their adored son, Luke Karl Hanson, to the family. Cindy found her calling later in life and went back to school to become a Certified Nurse Assistant. She was immensely skilled at working with the elderly and said it was her honor to “walk them home”.
Cindy is preceded in death by her sister Carol LaVerne Smith, her mother Gloria, affectionately called “Glo”, her father Harry, her brother Kenneth Foster Smith, and her cherished golden retriever, Tasha.
She is survived by her beloved husband: Roger Hanson of Flagstaff; her daughter: Kara Hanson-Hajjafari & son-in-law, Hamid of Austin; Her son: Luke Hanson, & daughter-in-law, Mimi of Frisco; her mother-in-law: Caroline Marie Hanson, of Chicago; Her brother: Gary Alan Smith & wife, Roxanne of Red Rock; brother Bruce Milton Smith & wife, Diane of League City; sister-in-law Paula Jo Smith of Alvin; and her “little bro” Jeffery Vance Smith & wife, Mary of Boerne. Also, numerous family members, friends, and her adored granddog, “Nika,” survive her.
Her celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on August 3rd at Grace Avenue United Methodist Church, and we encourage you to wear purple in her honor. The Church is located at 3521 Main Street, Frisco, Texas, 75034-4420. A Luncheon will follow the service.
